Executive Director & Certified Speech-Language Pathologist

Rachel DeSando, MS Ed., CCC-SLP is an American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Certified Speech Language Pathologist, who is experienced in treating speech, literacy, and swallowing disorders across the lifespan, having worked in hospitals, outpatient clinics, and skilled nursing facilities with clients of all ages and abilities.  Rachel is actively licensed in the states of California, Florida, and Virginia.  She holds a Bachelor's and Master's Degree from her Alma Mater, Old Dominion University of Norfolk, Virginia.  She has received the ASHA Award for Continuing Education, and has extensive training in the use of Modified Barium Swallow Study Analysis, VitalStim Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation, Lively Letters (an Orton-Gillingham inspired reading program), and Lindamood Bell LiPS, and Seeing Stars programs for reading.  Rachel is bilingual in English and Spanish, and is committed to providing excellent services and evidence-based practice to multilingual and multiculturally diverse families.  Rachel takes pride in her innovative use of technology to serve clients via teletherapy in the comfort and privacy of their homes.

Rachel is an energetic, compassionate, and motivating therapist who passionately engages each speech client in evidence-based techniques using state-of-the-art technology to achieve their optimum communication and swallowing skills.  She utilizes a client-centered approach to deliver functional and meaningful therapy that will inspire and improve clients’ communication, swallowing, and speech skills for a lifetime. 

Certified Speech-Language Pathologists & Assistants

Kristen, M.A., CCC-SLP is an American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Certified Speech Language Pathologist from Florida and has been practicing in central Florida for her whole career! She received a Bachelor's degree from Florida State University and obtained her Master's degree at the University of Central Florida. Kristen has helped people of all ages improve their quality of life both in school as well as in skilled nursing facilities.

Kristen loves how being an SLP allows her to connect with a variety of individuals and help them progress in their communication and language skills. "I love being a part of SpeechForLife, because it truly is a TEAM to serve you best and create a personalized plan for your child." 


Jenny Forero, M.S., CCC-SLP is an American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Certified Speech Language Pathologist from Florida. She graduated from the University of Central Florida with her Bachelor's of Science degree in Communication Disorders. Jenny completed her Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology at Nova Southeastern University. 

Jenny has experience facilitating the use of both high and low tech AAC devices for nonverbal students with autism, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injuries (TBI), and developmental delays.  Jenny has a particular interest in pediatric feeding, language & literacy therapy, and pragmatics. Jenny has a passion for implementing fun and innovative therapeutic techniques, to help her clients achieve their goals. 


Derrick Davis, SLPA is a Licensed Florida Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA). He received a Master's Degree from the New York University in Communication Sciences and Disorders. 

 

Derrick is an experienced SLP-A and has also worked as a teacher in the school system for children of all ages with varying unique abilities and developmental delays. Derrick is passionate about working in the field of speech-language pathology, because of his deep desire to help others. He loves helping children reach their full potential through speech and language therapy.  He enjoys using his creativity and incorporating children's individual interests to help them reach their goals and full potential.

We value the family's role in therapy and engage all family members in strategies for most efficient and effective outcomes of our clients. 

We bring therapy to your child in their natural learning environment such as home, school, academy, or daycare. (On location treatment available in Windermere and Horizon West areas only.)
